One of the most important of Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings is the concept of progressive revelation. The great religions are not separate and unrelated phenomena, but stages in the gradual unfoldment of a single divine purpose, the preparation of humankind for the tasks of the long promised age of its collective maturity.

When the Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith, Shoghi Effendi, launched the Ten Year Crusade in 1953, a young woman named Lilian Wyss responded to his call, arriving in Samoa in January of 1954. Thirty years later, in August of 1984, the first Mashriqu’l-Adhkár (Dawning Place of the Mention of God) in the South Pacific was dedicated in Samoa.
